Managing your Projects Effectively


As managers or professionals, we have experienced managing multiple or simultaneous projects and each of these projects are needed to meet our company's business objectives.  That is why the ability to manage projects is a skill not required anymore of a select few, but rather an important skill for everyone to effectively drive results given the tasks at hand.  Knowing how to successfully manage multiple projects is a competency that is becoming increasingly relevant. Why? Because the demands and expectations of today and tomorrow’s work requires it. 

In the previous decades, work was defined by every day time and task management where people perform operations work on a daily basis.  However, that comfortable work environment has shifted into one that features constant change, innovation and disruption.

Tomorrow’s professionals—leaders, managers, associates, and entrepreneurs—need to be more independent and agile. This means being capable of leading initiatives, collaborating with short-term project teams, developing risk-proof project plans, and executing these plans until completion. Professionals who can demonstrate these project management skills will be highly valued by organizations and employers. For entrepreneurs and managers with scarce resources, it is also very imperative to learn the proper way of managing projects to ensure that our projects are within scope, schedule, cost and other variables.

Much of the work that leaders, managers or professionals currently do are projects, even if these are not officially called ‘projects'.  For instance, setting up a new system without disrupting operations is a project. Transitioning to a new process, launching a new product, setting up a new store or implementing marketing campaigns are also projects.   This is where this training helps as it guides us in implementing these projects successfully.

This training allows us to learn project management concepts, frameworks, approach and a set of tools and templates to enable us to manage our projects effectively and efficiently. This will also be backed-up with exercises, mini-cases and practical applications.  There are many PM processes but we will focus on specific PM processes that are easy and practical to implement.

The speaker is a PMP certified senior program/project manager and organizational change management consultant.   He is currently working for a large insurance company as Change Manager.  He is the first and only that has accreditation for both APMG and Prosci as Change Management Practitioner in the Philippines and only one of a few accredited across Asia.
Previously, he worked for an international IT services company which manages different customers and projects from different countries. He was a Global Quality Program Manager/ Organizational Change Management consultant transforming quality and delivery of different global delivery centers. 
Also, he was a Global SAP Work stream Transformation Lead which managed a team of more than 100 people in different countries which standardized different processes in different regional and delivery centers within the Global SAP Service Line of the company.  Moreover, he was also a senior auditor that assessed quality and health of projects being done in the Americas region and also provided project management consulting to them.  He also managed different web and ERP projects before.
He is a magna cum laude graduate of management of business administration (MBA) at De La Salle Graduate School of Business.
